AR Arsenal

As part of Chester Moore’s Hog’s Gone Wild week promoting his new hog hunting book I was able to tag along to a hog hunt down in Matagorda County.

So I went to my gun safe and played a game of ennie minnei miney moe to pick a few rifles for our hog hunt at the  JB Hunting ranch.  Of course one had to be a suppressed rifle, and the other was my VLTOR TS3.  Had a lot of folks asking about the accessories attached, so here is the rundown:

On the left is the VLTOR TS3 – attachments:

Urban Sentry Hybrid Sling
LaRue Tactical Hand Stop
Larue Tactical Index Clips
Meopta ZD Tactical 1-4×22 Illunimated Scope on a LaRue QD Mount
Streamlight TLR1 HP

On the right, I’m holding my old High Standard AR that I bought a few years back, it’s my all purpose.  Accessories on it are mostly ones I got second hand used at a fair price (less my new trigger and suppressor)

Magpul sling – which was just replaced by the 5.11 VTAC because the magpul was way too noisy
Magpul CTR stock
Magpul foregrip (I prefer the new LaRue hand stops much more)
Trijicon Tripower – it’s ok, but I like my other Meopta a bit more
Cheasy plastic fake picatinny front rails
GEMTECH TREK suppressor
Geissele SSA Trigger
- amazing!
Surefire G2 in a VTAC mount – recently replaced by my Elzetta M60 and Elezetta ZROC Mount

PS- the “AR” in AR15 does not mean “Automatic Rifle” but refers to the original manufacture “ArmaLite”

  1. What barrel length and twist do you have on your AR’s? Also, what ammo did you use for taking down the hog?
