It’s amazing how legal uses of firearms are left out of the national spotlight. Maybe it’s just because it proves to liberals what we’ve been saying all along: Armed responsible citizens don’t create crime, they deter it.
This again proved true in South Carolina earlier this month when a CHL holder held a disgruntled man at gunpoint and forced him to surrender after he barged into a church service with a shotgun. Full Story.
In some states it’s not legal to carry a concealed weapon in “places of worship”. But in Texas we fixed that issue in 2007. Always read the law for yourself to make sure- http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/internetforms/forms/chl-16.pdf

Yup – and it also enables self-appointed vigilantes like George Zimmerman to go against police direction and decide based on their own untrained emotions to kill an innocent person.
Are you saying it’s better to be a disarmed victim and have your skull caved in on the concrete then have the ability to defend yourself?
Nancy Pelosi? Is that you?
If Zimmerman is guilty of murder it was not the law that allowed it. Zimmerman broke the law.
If it is proven in a court of law that Zimmerman committed a crime it will also be proven that he broke laws including the “Stand your ground” law.
Dang Phil, how did you get the inside scoop on what happen that night? You know if you were there that night, your suppose to give a statement to the police!!!
But on the other hand, if you were not there, and did not see what happen, then you must be telling us, just how ignorant you are by making an assumption on heresay!!! I myself am waiting on the outcome of the trial, so I don’t speak out of turn and make an ass out of myself, LIKE YOU JUST DID!
You do not know if he went against police advice of not that is a supposition in the charge affidavit. In reality you do not know if Martin was innocent or Zimmerman just was on a mission to kill someone get real let it rest until court. This story and many more across the country go unreported in fact many more good outcomes come from the CHL than bad ones.
@Phil 911 dispatchers are not cops and do not give out binding legal advise over the phone. For that matter neither do cops.
@Dustin This whole Zimmerman thing reminds me of a saying taught to me by an old rangemaster when I took my pistol certification. ‘It’s better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6′. It fits here perfectly.
