On July 13, 2012, 2 armed and masked thugs barged into Palms Internet Cafe in Marion County, FL and began demanding all 30+ patrons lay down on the ground.
Thankfully there was a concealed carry citizen in the mix with the unarmed and unprepared patrons. You can watch as an 71 year old man sees an opportunity, draws his firearm and opens fire on the masked punks. Within this split second decision you can see him still safely controlling his muzzle as he advanced and chases the bumbling idiots out the front door.

Every defensive situation is different. Sometimes the best decision is to simply give up your wallet and let the thug move on, yet other times, you may need to act to save your life and the lives of others.
We must remember to have proper training, stay aware and be prepared.

He did an excellent job too. He shot the first one 3 times and the second once. Both were caught, treated and jailed. Score one for the good guys.

judging by age and other items reported i guess this would be him, btw dustin im a huge fan of yours because i lived in zavalla when i was young and after moving to a different town i heard so many things bad about it, im glad someone gives it a good name
He did a great job. Also, this clearly demonstrates the point most 2nd Amendment proponents have been making for a while. In many, if not most, situations the criminal will generally retreat when faced with equal or greater force. This includes when they have guns themselves. Those who resort to criminal activities, in my opinion, are generally cowards. They are too lazy and scared of hard work to earn an honest living, so they turn to crime.
Completely agree with you Bill. And I bet if everyone would take responsibility with their own safety I bet crime would go down drastically.
Dustin… do you know how LE handled things with the citizen who had the guts (and gun) to whoop-up on these two – just wondering? LOVED how the 2 cowards couldn’t get out of there fast enough and tripping over each other. My husband would do the same thing – and I am a LOT more comfortable in public places as a result (we both have conceal permits – WA state). Im vry proud of this man and the courage he showed, it could have been my family in there. Just a thought and I guess every situation is different but when should you stop shooting, when they run or they are out of range.lol
Agreed Reece, every situation is different and decisions are made in split seconds. You must stay aware and be ready to act on a moments notice. You can tell from the video how fast everything unfolded. Williams saw threat and shot until it was gone. Good for him! You NEVER shoot to kill – you shoot to STOP.
Outstanding! It definitely wasn’t pretty in a “tacticool” sense, but most reality is less than desirable looking when compared to our image of shootouts. He sure did open a can on those punks!
The 71 year old mans name is Samuel Williams and according to the latest news the local LE considered the shooting justified therefore no charges will be filed. I am a resident of Marion County where this shooting took place and we are so proud of Mr. Williams in keeping a level head, taking care of the robbers and then keeping his cool enough to think about locking the doors after they left.
One of the would be robbers Duwayne Henderson was shot in the hip and “buttocks” (LOL) and had the audacity to “complain” about Mr. Williams shooting him while he was down. I say, don’t expect mercy from people when you instigate the fight! Again we are VERY proud of Mr. Williams here in Marion County.

MAN! I sure wish this guy was in the Colorado Theater a short while back, or if not him, a couple of dozen other similar CCW armed and trained folks. Any of you remember a movie in the late 70′s or early 80′s where two thugs try to rob a bar, but it was a COP BAR, where all the undercover and off duty cops hung out – and when they said this is a stick-up, pistols and shotguns came out of EVERYWHERE! Would that criminal shooter in Colorado have gotten off the first few rounds with CCW laws in existence in Colorado and not forbidden by the business? Likely, yes. Would he have killed 12 and injured 58 more? Likely not. People must have the right to complete self defense, not just hunker down and wait for cops to arrive.
