Up to 1000 school employees are invited to take a free cocealed handgun licence training class next month.
The chief said the idea is in keeping with Kyle’s philosophy to serve those who serve.
Waybourn said he’s aware that the class could add to controversy surrounding the arming of teachers. He said it should be a district decision, but that any school employee who is armed should have much more training than the basic course he is offering.
Teachers unions and the United Educators Association of Fort Worth oppose arming teachers.
