Police said one of the suspects who tried to hold up an ACE Cash Express in north Houston was in the hospital Monday after a bystander opened fire.
Two suspects entered the business through a vacant unit next door and waited in the ceiling until employees showed up Monday morning. When the workers arrived, the men came through the ceiling and ordered the employees to open the safe.
The workers said the safe was on a timer, and the suspects decided to run from the scene empty-handed.
As the suspects were leaving, a man with a Concealed Handgun License whose wife works at the store saw the crime going down, gave chase, and opened fire.
One of the suspects was struck in the arm and is expected to survive. The other suspect got away on foot.
