One of the teens accused of gunning down an East Central University baseball player Friday in Duncan, Oklahoma, told officers Christopher Lane was killed for “the fun of it,” police said.
Police said three juveniles killed 23-year old Christopher Lane, an Australian native, Friday afternoon at the intersection of Twilight Beach and Country Club Roads.
Just hours after Lane’s death, police arrested three juveniles all on murder one complaints.
The teens are ages 15, 16, and 17, and remain in the Stephens County Jail as of Saturday night.
Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said Lane was a random, arbitrary target for murder: “They witnessed the young man run by on the street. Chose him as a target.”
Lane was said to be running, like he routinely did, except there was nothing routine about how this run ended.
