Emergency responders rushed to a Cleveland-area Christian school and put it on lockdown after getting a report of a gunfight Wednesday.
“Some of the staff were doing something with Nerf guns,” said police captain Chris Costantino. “They were just messing around with them, nothing serious.”
As this was happening, a secretary called home to talk to her daughter, Costantino said.
“I’m not sure if she was speaking directly to her daughter or leaving a message, but somewhere along the line in that call the secretary said something along the lines of ‘They’re shooting at us,’” Costantino said.
The daughter, worried about the safety of the school, called emergency dispatchers and reported a shooting.
