A young man found dead in the tiger enclosure at Copenhagen Zoo Wednesday July 11 morning might have committed “suicide by tiger.”
“But it is probably the bite to the throat that is the cause of death,” said Police Media Coordinator Lars Borg.
Zookeepers found the body early in the morning with three tigers around it.
Borg said papers found on the man show he was a foreigner with a residence permit for Denmark.
Initial speculation is the incident might be a suicide, as entering the tiger enclosure required scaling the zoo’s fencing and a fording a moat around the enclosure.
“A lot of maneuvers are necessary in order to get in,” Borg said.
