Corey Cogdell, a female trap shooter on the US Olympic team and a favorite to win the Gold Medal, has been targeted for harassment by animal rights thugs.
Corey has become a controversial figure in London, due to her unabashed support of trophy hunting and she has become the focal point for angry animal rights advocates in the United States and abroad. She came to their attention due to numerous photos that were posted on her Facebook page of her posing smiling next to the animals she has shot. She has recently taken her page down to to the criticism.
Safari Club International and other groups comprised of normal, decent people have come to Cogdell’s defense.
As President of Safari Club International (SCI) I would like to express SCI’s support for Olympic Trap Shooter and SCI Member, Corey Cogdell, who will represent the U.S. Shooting team tomorrow in London. While the anti-hunting community has recently scrutinized, and even threatened, Ms. Cogdell over images from an African hunt that she posted to a social media account, the images are a true depiction of how she continues to represent hunters across the globe, promoting species conservation in local communities, such as Africa. Ms. Cogdell is a positive role model for all American hunters and, again, SCI wishes her all the best in bringing home an Olympic medal.
