For years coyotes have been a big problem in Port Aransas and on the island. Now, one councilman in Port Aransas says it’s time to either feed them or kill them to keep the wild animals from attacking people and pets.
From KRIS TV:
At the boutique shop Inside Out we found a memorial for beloved pet and family member, Sunny. When he was alive, he spent most his days in the shop.
“He would come to work everyday with him, so it was really sad,” Melissa Anderberg told us. She works at Inside Out with Sunny’s owner, Scott. She told us how Sunny died when a coyote snatched him up in May.
“He got attacked once before and for away, but this time, they got him and took off,” Anderberg said.
Coyotes have been a problem in the area for years, even attacking people. In the summer of 2010, animal control responded to three coyote bite calls.
Anderberg says they aren’t hard to spot and they certainly aren’t shy. “They snatch them right off the leashes, so it’s really scary when people are walking their dogs,” she told us.
