A kangaroo is on the loose in Oklahoma. A family in Shawnee lost their pet kangaroo Thursday. The family is offering a large reward to get it back.
The Mehnusens say Lucy Sparkles, the kangaroo, ran off from the yard during Thanksgiving dinner. She may have been spooked by the extra commotion at the house, Shayla Menhusen said.
Lucy Sparkles is only eleven months old and about two feet tall. Daughter Leyla named the kangaroo when the family picked it up from a breeder in Texas this summer. Shayla said her daughter has been distraught by the loss.
The family is offering a $1,000 reward for Lucy Sparkles’ return. The Menhusens live just north of Shawnee city limits. They think the kangaroo is in the area, but said on the amount of time she’s been gone, Lucy could have wondered in to town or further.
