Creators were still making some last-minute adjustments to a giant alligator that is expected to float through Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and down the Intracoastal Waterway on Monday.
Hollywood artist Lloyd Goradesky and Everglades historian Cesar Becerra, joined by a team of collaborators, plan to launch an art piece they are describing as “the world’s largest alligator head” on Monday.
The team was installing additional navigational cameras to the alligator in order to help steer the built-in barge safely. The group gave the floating piece of art a test drive in a Fort Lauderdale marina on Sunday.
“At 3:02 Sunday, we took it for a spin. It floats, it works, the mouth opened and closed and so we’re almost there,” Becerra said.
