The body of an 18-year-old who was on a picnic with his church group when he disappeared in the water was recovered from Inks Lake in Burnet on Thursday, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Johnny Mosely, of Kingsland was swimming with a friend from the shore to the park store about 100 yards across the water when he apparently experienced difficulty and went under water, department spokesman Mike Cox said.
His friend tried unsuccessfully to pull him up, Cox said, and a park volunteer host who kayaked out to help also couldn’t rescue Mosely.
His body was recovered in about 8 feet of water at approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Cox said.
Clara Tuma, a spokeswoman with the Lower Colorado River Authority, said Mosely went underwater around 11 a.m.
