Dwayne Eschete and Clark Jordan continued their string of victories with another win during the Shock H20 Professional Redfish Tour, held Aug. 16 out of Port Aransas, Texas.
The reigning Anglers of the Year and Team Majek Boats pros led wire-to-wire, bringing in two fat keepers for 14.69 pounds on the final day. Adding that to their Day 1 leading weight of 16.36 pounds, they sealed their victory with four redfish and 31.04 pounds.
The champs fished the Laguna Madre area with Berkley Gulp! baits. For the victory, Eschete and Jordan took home $10,000. They also added another 200 crucial points toward the coveted Angler of the Year title, worth another $10,000.
Representing Full Throttle Boat Works, Brett Sweeny and Jake Luedecke held second for the entire tournament. Running out of the Port Aransas Park Pavilion, they brought in two consecutive two-fish daily limits. Sweeny and Jake Luedecke brought in 15.57 pounds on the first day. They added 14.19 pounds on the final day to finish with 29.76 pounds. For second place, they pocketed $2,500.
“We had our chances to win,” Sweeny lamented. “We can’t lose good fish and expect to win against the quality of anglers who fish these events.”
Shannon Ledwik-Bruce White held third place throughout the tournament to finish with four fish and 29.40 pounds. On Day 1, they caught 15 pounds and added 14.40 pounds on the final day to win $500.
Jason White and Kevin Akins stayed in fourth place for the entire event, finishing with a two-day total of four redfish weighing 29.14 pounds. They found two keepers for 14.70 pounds on the first day and two more going 14.44 on the second day.
Matt Stennett and Chris Evans finished fifth with four redfish going 28.41 pounds. They landed 13.79 pounds on the first day and 14.51 pounds on the final day.
“We had a great tournament with beautiful fishing weather,” said Pat Malone, tournament director. “Angler after angler stated how they all caught so many fish and caught them from first cast till last. The people with the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce did a wonderful job hosting this event for us and we thank each one of them for all they did.”
