Nebraska Game and Parks is investigating a hunting accident Sunday at Yankee Hill Lake about 12 miles southwest of Lincoln.
Denton resident Francisco Barbosa Almazan, 27, and his 8-year-old son were hurt while hunting dove. Both took pellets to the face from the shotgun of 23-year-old Arturo Garcia of Omaha, who was hunting in the same area. Garcia swung on a dove, shot, and struck the victims.
Almazan was treated and released from Bryan LGH Medical Center West and his son was held overnight for observation. A third member of their hunting party was not injured.
“There were some hunters hunting on a wildlife management area” said Levi Krause, Nebraska Game and Parks. “One hunter shot at a dove apparently it was over a slight ridge. We believe that the pellets from his shotgun injured two individuals from the side of the ridge.”
