A body was found at Castaic Lake, California, burning in a nearby brush fire after the fire department was called to extinguish a small blaze.
The body is believed to be the remains of 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa, whose parents reported him missing last week after he failed to show up at their home. Laspisa’s overturned SUV was found near a boat ramp on Castaic Lake. The back window of the vehicle was broken and a small amount of blood was found inside the vehicle. His laptop, cellphone and clothes were still in the vehicle.
It looked to police as if Laspisa had an accident and broke the back window to get out of the overturned vehicle. The blood may possibly be explained from him cutting himself in the accident or on his way out of the broken window.
Castaic Lake is the best known of several small California lakes that have produced largemouth bass weighing more than 20 pounds. A huge lure, the Castaic Trout, was designed and marketed in the early 1990s to target very large bass.
