Bossier Parish Sheriff Larry Deen says vandals are spiking roads to hunting camps in the Plain Dealing area, damaging more than 20 tires and creating a dangerous hazard for people.
He says the vandalism started last year. With deer season around the corner, Bossier Crime Stoppers is offering $350 for information that leads to arrests of whoever is responsible.
The sheriff says spikes made of files, bolts and flat bits of metal welded in a cross shape and sharpened at one end are left on the ground or buried sharp end up.
Deen says nobody has been injured, but the spikes could seriously hurt anybody who stepped on one. The sheriff also says vandals have stolen and damaged deer cameras, vandalized deer stands and burglarized camp sites.
