The Caddo Parks and Recreation Department will host the 20th annual “Get Hooked on Fishing Day” in Earl G. Williamson Park, located on Caddo Lake in Oil City on June 25.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The public program features educational booths and pier fishing sponsored by various organizations in northwest Louisiana. Educational booths on casting, boating safety, fish identification and biology, environmental education and more will be available.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday for children up to the age of 17 years. Refreshments will be provided free of charge to participating children. A fishing contest tops off the festivities with a first and second prize in each age division given to the child who catches the most fish by weight.
The event is free of charge and will take place rain or shine. For more information, call the Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department.
Besides the financial support provided by many of the sponsors, individuals representing the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department, Bass Life Associates, Inc., Oil City Rotary Club, ShrevCORPS, Caddo Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Greater Caddo Lake Association, Army Corps of Engineers, Fire District #7, North Caddo Ambulance District, and Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department will participate in the event.
