Senator Reid’s Pony Express

I’m embarrassed for the great state of Nevada.  Really.

Senator Harry Reid is about as sharp as a bag of Nevada desert sand. He obviously doesn’t believe in President Lincoln’s advice: Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

David Letterman’s comedy writers couldn’t dream this stuff up. Senator Reid recently stated we should keep rural Post Offices open because elderly Americans “…love getting junk mail.  It’s their only way of communicating or feeling like they’re part of the real world.”

Really, Harry.

Senator Reid’s statement is thunderstruck dumb, hilarious and embarrassing. He’s the poster fossil for what is wrong with our government and should be forced to wear a dunce hat on the floor of the senate for the next month, or maybe forever. He and Wasserman Shultz could rotate it.

Some elderly Americans might think it funny getting their junk mail delivered by guys riding fast horses or by carrier pigeon but we shouldn’t give Senator Reid any ideas.

Note to all the mouth-breathing kids who have dropped out of high school:  Senator Reid is proof there is a future for you in the U.S. Senate.

Due to e-mail on on-line bill payments, the USPS has outlived its usefulness.  It has been losing about eight billion dollars a year.  Like the penny and Senator Reid, the USPS is a modern anachronism.

In effort to stave off going the way of the Pony Express, the USPS has previously proposed closing thousands of post offices and reducing mail service.

Like a government program that our Fedzillacrats can’t let die because it has lost its usefulness, the Senate is now debating the 21st Century Postal Reform Act.

If passed, this so-called reform act does nothing more than stave off the inevitable:  the USPS is going under.  It’s just a matter of time.

I say we let the USPS die.  Let’s get it over with and move on.  We should let private industry develop a cost-effective way to deliver what little mail there is left that needs to be delivered.

Old, costly ways of doing business in a new world will not work, especially as a proven wasteful government entity.  We shouldn’t continue to subsidize them.  We should eliminate them.

Numerous costly Fedzilla agencies and departments have outlived there usefulness (if they even had any usefulness to begin with). In addition to the USPS, we should eliminate the Department of Education, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Transportation, the Energy Department, the Department of Labor, the Peace Corps and dozens and dozens of others.

Fedzilla is like a bad dream, only when you wake up it is still there either making costly bad decisions or advocating making costly bad decisions.  Senator Reid is proof. He’s not only a Nevada embarrassment but is also a national embarrassment.
