Toyota’s Ultimate Fishing Tundra being built for SEMA aftermarket show

It has often been said that SEMA, the Las Vegas aftermarket event, is the biggest automotive toybox anywhere, and it is primarily a marketplace for customization, pieces, parts and anything else that can be installed after the vehicle has left the factory.  It is also a showcase for personalized trucks and cars that have been underwritten by the vehicle manufacturers who partner with customizers and well-known personalities to create unique and exceptional one-of-a-kind cars and trucks.  The SEMA Show is not open to the public.

Britt Myers

For this year’s SEMA event in late October, Toyota is working with Bassmaster Elite Series pro angler Britt Myers who owns North Carolina-based CS Motorsports to develop a bass fisherman’s dream truck on a 2012 Toyota Tundra CrewMax.  The full-sized pickup has towing and payload capacities perfect for hauling a professional bass fishing boat and gear.  Since Toyota is a premier sponsor of bass fishing tournaments, including the upcoming Toyota Texas Bass Classic, and fields its own team of pro anglers, input was also solicited from Kevin VanDam, Terry “Big Show” Scroggins, Mike Iaconelli and Gerald “G-Man” Swindle, the Toyota team members.

Emphasis was placed, Myers said, on enhancing the bass fisherman’s life and “it will have a bed-area tackle storage system that looks like a Bass Pro Shop aisle, including tackle, reeds, rods and a refrigerator.”  An automatic, motorized delivery system will make the gear in the bed easily accessible.

The CS Motorsports crew is also replacing the rear bench seat with bucket seats and a custom-built fiberglass console that stretches the length from the dash to the rear cabinet wall and includes video monitors and subwoofers.  Interior front panels, also custom, to house extra speakers and monitors for playing fishing videos and display Navionics lake-mapping options.

The robust Tundra gets a TRD Big Brake Kit and 12-inch suspension lift, as well as a customer roof rack with LED lighting and fishing rod storage, along with a unique grille to set off the entire rig.

The customization team is also adding a TRD supercharger and exhaust system for extra power and torque.

This fisherman’s dream will be debuted on October 30 at the Tundra display.  You can vote for it after October 20th at the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge.  Sorry, no pictures until then.  (www.ToyotaRacingDreamBuild.com).
