.458 SOCOM Watermelon Obliteration [video]

We are featuring the Rock River Arms .458 SOCOM as a powerful hog slayer in next month’s issue.  The .458 cartridge has some amazing firepower as seen in our ballistic test video.  Even 500 grain SBR subsonic rounds completely penetrated 2 blocks of Clear Ballistic Gel while a standard .308 barely cleared 1 block.

A Cor-bon 400 Grain .458 SOCOM successfully captured in gel. It almost went completely through both gel blocks where as a .223 stops in the first, a .308 barely penetrates the second.
