CCA STAR Tournament – 2nd Tagged Red Winner’s Story

The day started early on Friday, June 27 for Temple resident, Mark Richner. He and two of his fishing buddies booked a guided trip in Baffin Bay. They were up at 4:00am and out the door by 4:30am, to head to the marina where they met fishing guide, Capt. David Rowsey. The boat left the dock about 5:20a.m. for the 45 minute ride to the mouth of Baffin Bay. The friends booked a half day charter so the action was fast… stop, fish and move. They started out catching some trout with some real nice ones caught and released. As the morning wore on, they worked their way back to the marina and decided to stop just south of Bird Island Basin to see if they could catch some redfish for the grill. They worked their way towards a nice grass line. Soon the guide was hooked up with a nice one and motioned for the trio to come his way. In a matter of minutes all three anglers had nice reds, but Richner’s happened to be the one with Tag #TA635! Richner headed over to official STAR weigh station, Roy’s Bait & Tackle to weigh-in his special catch. “Sure was a great day on the water with good friends and a great captain”, said Richner. Thanks CCA for all of the work you put into our coastal system. We love it! Mark Richner is the second official winner of the 2014 CCA Texas STAR Tournament, Texas Ford Dealers Redfish Division. He will receive a 2014 Ford F-150 Texas Edition XLT SuperCab truck, Haynie 23’ Big Foot boat, Mercury 150 L Pro XS OptiMax motor and Coastline trailer.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SECOND TAGGED REDFISH WINNER!
