TEXAS—JULY 8, 2014— Renowned marine wildlife artist, conservationist and scientist, Dr. Guy Harvey is scheduled for personal appearances at Academy Sports + Outdoors locations in Webster and Beaumont, Texas.
Dr. Harvey’s schedule:
— Saturday, July 19th Academy Sports + Outdoors in Webster, Texas from noon to 2 p.m. The store is located at 21351 Gulf Freeway.
–Sunday, July 20th Academy Sports + Outdoors in Beaumont, Texas from 1 to 3 p.m. The store is located at7130 Eastex Freeway.
At the Academy Sports + Outdoors events, fans will be able to register to win a signed Guy Harvey canvas giclee valued at $500. The first fifty people to purchase $50 or more of Guy Harvey merchandise will receive a Guy Harvey artwork poster.
The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation (GHOF) will donate $1 from each item sold to the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Texas. The CCA Texas is a non-profit recreational fishing organization comprised of tens of thousands of fishing and coastal outdoor enthusiasts. CCA Texas has enacted positive change on all levels of coastal marine conservation and management, including a state net ban, gamefish status for speckled trout and redfish, bycatch reduction for Gulf and bay shrimp trawls, flounder conservation measures, limited entry into commercial fisheries, and Gulf fisheries management initiatives.
About Guy Harvey
Guy Harvey is a marine wildlife artist and conservationist who earned a Ph.D. in Fisheries Biology. His depictions of marine life, especially of gamefish such as marlin, sailfish, redfish, tarpon, tunas and trout are very popular with sport fishermen and have been reproduced in prints, posters, t-shirts, jewelry, tumblers, and other consumer items. Harvey is also a very vocal and active advocate for marine conservation, having established the Guy Harvey Research Institute at Nova Southeastern University of Fort Lauderdale, Florida as well as the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, an organization that funds marine conservation research and educational initiatives.
