FORGET what Jaws has taught you – this astonishing footage shows that sharks aren’t so scary after all.
Mr Prasad from Calcutta, India, said: “It was amazing to be so close to this wonderful creature and we just had to get closer.
“When I started to take some pictures I noticed the remnants of a net wrapped around its torso.
“The net had dug deep into its skin, causing a gaping wound on its side so we knew we had to remove it from the shark.”
Mr Prasad said: “As if it was saying thank you, the shark swam around within the entire group of divers.
“The number had significantly grown as more came in to see what was going on.
“Eventually he swam off on his own into the dark blue.”
Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world and are thought to have originated around 60 million years ago.
They are filter feeders who feast on plankton and small fish, meaning that they are no threat to humans.
