This sign is much more a deterrent to an evil murderer than a "Gun Free Zone" sign.
With all the media hype over violence in schools several level headed school administrations have opted out of the “Gun Free Zone” mentality and realized that the only thing that stops a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun. A local school in Huntington, TX they are revealed that they have a few select staff members that are approved to carry concealed firearms in order to keep their children safe. This is an excellent deterrent, even if it was a bluff! (which I doubt):
These staff members also forgo further professional training such as seen in this video from Missouri, note the “Good Guy” sashes they don after they fire in order to prevent friendly fire from arriving law enforcement:
