Teen Lands L’Oreal Modeling Contract After Being Spotted in Crowd at the World Cup — but Then She Posted a Hunting Pic…

Belgian beauty Axelle Despiegelaere made international headlines as she cheered on her home country in the World Cup. Someone took her photo in the stands, and within days, L’Oreal had offered her a modeling job.

The offer didn’t last long.

After 17-year-old Despiegelaere posted a photo praising hunting, L’Oreal confirmed to The Independent that her contract is now “completed.”

Here is the photo that caused an international uproar, posted before the United States took on Belgium in the World Cup:

Despiegelaere faced so much criticism on social media that she deleted her Facebook page. But first, she apologized for the post, writing: “i didn’t mean to offend anyone..it was a joke.”

But a L’Oreal spokesperson remarked: “L’Oréal Professionnel Belgium collaborated with her on an ad hoc basis to produce a video for social media use in Belgium. The contract has now been completed.”

The spokesperson did not confirm whether Despiegelaere’s hunting photo was behind its decision to stop working with the model, whose short promotional video for L’Oreal has garnered nearly two million YouTube views in three days.

However, the Independent says that L’Oreal was “keen to stress” that it “no longer tests on animals, anywhere in the world, and does not delegate this task to others.”

Despiegelaere’s case is one of several lately where young women have taken hunting photos, and been eviscerated on social media.

After Kendall Jones, a 19-year-old the Texas Tech cheerleader, posted photos of herself hunting game in Africa, aspiring left-wing politician Mike Dickinson offered $100,000 to “anyone who has nude photos or videos” of the cheerleader, saying “she deserves to be a target.”
