Watch Two Men Hit 45 MPH in Nothing but Kayaks and a Few Inches of Water

WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE

Two famous Canadian kayakers recently strapped GoPros to their gear and took their sport out of the river and into a concrete drainage ditch in the small town of Lion’s Bay near Vancouver.

The resulting video depicts the two daredevils, Ben Marr and Rush Sturges, dropping down an embankment and hitting heart-pounding speeds as they race through the concrete ditch, which appears to contain only a small amount of water. The men reached 45 mph, according to the video’s description.

“This is insane! It looks like they’re going even faster than the speeder bikes in ‘Return of the Jedi’!” remarked YouTube user, dkim68.

Even Sturges had to admit the decision to take the plunge might not have been the wisest.

“Just when you thought we couldn’t get any more dumb, Ben Marr and I go and do this,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

The video, which amassed over 200,000 views by Thursday morning, had Reddit users arguing over whether or not the two men actually had control of their watercraft as they sped through the ditch.
