East Texan takes hunt for Bigfoot to television

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) –

An East Texas native says Bigfoot is real and hopes to show proof in a new 1-hour television special.

Bobby Hamilton grew up in Garrison and Jacksonville and said he had numerous encounters with the legendary beast. Hamilton said his first one started in the winter when he was four years-old.

“I’m walking in the bedroom with my head down and I hear something scratch the screen and I look up and there is this apish looking thing with an evil grin, because I could see teeth, and it was motioning with his hand for me to come to the window,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton believes East Texas is the perfect sport for sightings of the primate because of the wooded areas to hide in and the abundance of fresh water. Hamilton also said he believes the public will soon start seeing more sightings.

“We are having more encounters with these things coming up to people’s houses and killing their livestock,” Because their environment is being torn down,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton is the founder of the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization. The group has been hunting Bigfoot through East Texas and Louisiana. Their latest endeavor has been documented in a one-hour special called ”Killing Bigfoot”, premiering Friday at 8 p.m. on Destination America.

“That’s the only thing we have done publicly,” Hamilton said.

The show follows Hamilton and his team on the ultimate hunt for the creature.

“I’m not here to convince anybody that this thing exists,” Hamilton said. “What I am trying to do here is bring a body in and prove it to science.”

Hamilton said he is closer than ever before to capturing the creature. Hamilton said his group has shot one before and the blood sample could not be matched to a human or animal. Hamilton said his group is only looking at taking down full grown males and have a policy to not shoot the females or the adolescent Bigfoot.

Hamilton’s daughter Brandi has been on several hunts with her father and was part of the filming of the special. Brandi believes if they are successful in catching a Bigfoot, it will turn doubters into believers.

“They just don’t believe that Bigfoot, the Lochness Monster, The New Jersey Devil are out there,” Brandi Hamilton said. “If we can bring one of these in and prove it does exist it will let people broaden their mind and say hey there might be something out there.”
