3 mammoth bass caught in Texas lakes in one afternoon

Though seemingly most of the state that wasn’t covered in ice this weekend was deluged by rain, three anglers in East Texas managed to reel in monster fish as part of Texas’ ShareLunker Program.

The biggest of the three was a 15.18 pound bass caught by Shannon Elvington on Saturday at Lake Ray Roberts north of Dallas.

On the same day, Darrell Tompkins and Wayne Triana each caught monster bass at Sam Rayburn Reservoir north of Beaumont. Tompkins fish was 14.32 pounds; Triana’s was 13.05 pounds.

Shannon Elvington caught this 15.18 pound bass as part of the ShareLunker Program on Ray Roberts. Big bass will eat big baitfish and anything else they can fit in their mouths.
Wayne Triana caught this 13.05 pound bass as part of the ShareLunker Program on March 7, 2015 in Sam Rayburn Reservoir.
Darrell Tompkins caught this 14.32 pound bass as part of the ShareLunker Program on March 7, 2015 in Sam Rayburn Reservoir.
