Free Entry, Free Fishing Poles and Bait Provided
Lake Corpus Christi State Park near Mathis will host a grand opening celebration to mark the completion of its new fishing pier project. Visitors are invited to try out the new pier for free from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The state park will waive normal entrance fees for all who participate in the event from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. With the help of HEB and other area donors, bait will be provided free of charge. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will also loan out basic fishing poles and tackle for those who need them during the event. Food and drinks will be provided for participants as well as numerous games and other activities throughout the day.
No fishing license is required if fishing within the state park.
