Silenced Shotgun! Salvo 12 Review [VIDEO]

2 years ago shotgun suppressors were a Hollywood myth, however with the ingenuity of Silencer Co it’s now a reality.

The Salvo 12 is the only commercially viable shotgun suppressor on the market.  Modeled after the eccentric Osprey design, the below bore suppressor allows the dampening of shotgun blasts by allowing the shot to travel through the baffles on a long set of rails.

While the Salvo 12 is a bit hefty, 34 ounces at the end of a long shotgun barrel does get tiresome, it is very effective.  Shooting the shotgun is hearing safe even while shooting at low targets in front of a sound bouncing dirt berm, and it’s even quieter in the air.

The Salvo 12 comes in beastly 12″ configuration, and the user is able to shorten it to 10″, 8″ or 6″ by just purchasing a rod kit and removing a sections of the suppressor.  I have only shot the 12 and 10″ versions but I was told 8 and 6″ gets a little noisy.

The suppressor mounts onto any popular shotgun by using a Salvo choke adapter.  These come in improved, modified, and full and run about $100.  The Salvo mounts very easily onto your shotgun as screwing in a new choke.  See a complete list of supported shotgun models here.

Unlike suppressors made for bullets, the Salvo 12 is not compatible with smaller gauges.  This is only for 12 gauge.  It’s rated up to 3″ shells running 1,550FPS in any barrel over 16″, or 2 3/4″ shells running 1,300 FPS in 10-16″ barrels.
