I don’t often write about concept vehicles. They are so amazing, but so often by the time they become production vehicles — if they ever do — the reality doesn’t resemble the concept. This time, I can only hope that GM does build this Buick and takes it to the edge.

cq5dam.web.1280.1280(2)There is a sweeping sculptural look that reminds of a cat stretching out. There is no B-pillar between the doors and rear side windows adding to the modern vibe.

The exterior lighting takes Buick’s signature wing shape a step further with illuminated halos around the lamp edges. The grille offers a new Buick insignia. Also on the exterior:

  • A 110.7″ wheelbase and 63″ front track/62.9″ rear track for an impressive stance.
  • 20″ aluminum wheels with color-toned accents matched to the car’s Dark Sapphire Jewel exterior.
  • Front fender vents with chrome accents

Interiors change the most between concept and production because many of the features would never pass actual safety and wear testing, but they do give an idea of what the design team had in mind.  Things like the Electronic Precision Shift are spec-ed for the 2017 LaCrosse, but the proportion of the seats, instrument panel and console are representative of the ‘strictly concept’ side.

Mist gray, exposed carbon fiber and aluminum accents could well make it to a final version of the Buick Avista. They would be good choices.
