Christmas Gifts For The Duck Hunter

Christmas is just around the corner and it’s time to start shopping.  If you haven’t already found the perfect gift for the duck hunter in your life, here are a few suggestions for the duck hunter.

1). Shotgun shells: If you have a picky hunter in your family, this is a cant miss gift. All duck hunters need shells. You can purchase a box or case depending on the budget.  Most hunters prefer 12 gauge and 3 inch is a common length. Be sure to but steel or other non toxic shells that are legal for waterfowl.

2). Dog blind: This is a great gift for a hunter with a dog.  My favorite is made by MoMarsh and it has adjustable legs as well as back pack style carrying straps. This blind will help keep your dog nice and dry as well as conceal any movement that might spook wary ducks.

3). Duck Decoys: Most duck hunters have plenty of decoys already, but I haven’t met one yet who wouldn’t appreciate more. As a general rule, the more expensive the better so let your check book be your guide.  If you really want to go all out purchase a dozen Texas Rig decoy weights to go along with the decoys.

4). Stanley Thermos: This is standard equipment for all duck hunters.  There is something about a thermos full of hot coffee to warm you up on a cold winters day in the duck blind.

5) Avian X Duck Blind: If you order now you might be able to get this item in time for Christmas.  This is a super nice portable duck blind that adds to the comfort and pleasure of any hunt.  It is easy to transport in a boat or with a UTV and it can really make a difference.  The blind comes with tie straps to allow you to add brush to make it completely invisible to ducks.

6). Duck hunting Parka: A great duck hunting jacket is something that can last a lifetime.  These jackets have liners that can be zipped in or out to adjust for the weather.  There are several brands that are great.  Try to get one that is water proof and in a camo patter that will match your hunters environment.

7). New Puppy: Nothing says I love you quite like a new puppy.  It is the gift that keeps on giving for years to come.  Every duck hunter needs a good duck dog. When it comes to waterfowl hunting, Labrador retrievers are king!  While you are at it go ahead and pay for some training from DuckDogTrainer.com.  Having a great dog adds enjoyment not only to the hunt but to life in general.

If you have any questions or I can help you pick out a gift for your favorite hunter, please feel free to give me a call. You can check me out at DuckDogTrainer.com.  Above all be sure to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season!!
