Delta Waterfowl Supports USFWS Nomination

Delta Waterfowl strongly supports the nomination of Martha Williams for Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Prior to her nomination, Williams worked for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, serving as Director from 2017 to 2020. Additionally, she’s served as Principal Deputy Director of the USFWS since January.

“Martha Williams is a wonderful nominee for USFWS Director,” said John Devney, chief policy officer for Delta Waterfowl. “Throughout her career, she has demonstrated strong leadership, a pragmatic approach to conservation and, importantly, a willingness to work with duck hunters to achieve positive policy outcomes for waterfowl.”

Delta Waterfowl consults closely with the USFWS on a number of key issues impacting ducks and duck hunters, from habitat conservation to the recent, broad expansions of waterfowler access on national wildlife refuges.

“As Director, I’m confident Martha would be an asset in Delta’s mission to produce ducks and secure the future of waterfowl hunting in North America,” Devney said. “She has a proven track record of reaching across the aisle to benefit wildlife and hunters.”

Nominated by the Biden Administration, Williams is expected to participate in a United States Senate subcommittee confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 17. Pending approval, the full Senate would then hold its own confirmation vote.

“The Duck Hunters Organization encourages the United States Senate to swiftly confirm Martha Williams as Director of the USFWS,” Devney said.
