Moore Honored For Wild Turkey Photography

Texas Fish & Game Editor-In-Chief Chester Moore was honored last week for his wild turkey photography.

Last Thursday he received a photo award from the Houston Safari Club Foundation in their professional category for a photo of his friend and wildlife biologist Britt Perry releasing a GPS-collared Eastern wild turkey in Louisiana. This photo graced the cover of Texas Fish & Game on the March/April 2022 issue.

He also received multiple awards at the Texas Outdoor Writer’s Association banquet in Port Arthur last Saturday including first place in wildlife photography for a photo of an Eastern wild turkey being released into Angelina County.

“It’s always great to be honored for your work and in these cases it’s especially exciting to get recognized for my work on wild turkeys. I’ve had put hundreds of hours into turkey photography over the last four years to raise awareness to their conservation,” Moore said.

“Texas Fish & Game has been such a great asset to that as it has been a leader in covering turkey work and given me such a powerful platform to share these photos and stories of Texas Parks & Wildlife’s great turkey restoration work and of course the many efforts of the National Wild Turkey Federation.”

Moore and TF&G are currently working on something special for NWTF-Texas and Moore said there is also a project in the works for 2023 for the Golden Crescent Chapter in the Victoria area.

“There are many more great things happening for turkeys through Texas Fish & Game and also my Higher Calling Wildlife podcast coming up.”
