Comment On the Future of TX Speckled Trout Fishery

Texas speckled trout fishery is at a crossroads.

Post freeze of 2021, attitudes and even regulations of speckled trout have been impacted along the Texas Coast.

We would like your opinion on a few key questions of speckled trout to help us see where we need to spend energy in forthcoming investigative stories. You can comment on one of all of these questions below or email to cmoore@fishgame.com.

  1. If you could make one change in speckled trout regulations what would it be?

2. Do you think Texas will ever see its current state record of 16 pounds broken? If so, where will this fish most likely be caught?

3. Are you concerned about dredging and ship channel deepening/widening have an impact on trout habitat?

4. Do you support kill-based tournaments for speckled trout?

5. Is trout fishing in the areas you fish better or worse than it was 10 years ago? (Please share region you fish)

Thanks for participating!
