The time has come when these hard fighting fish called sandies, sandbass, or white bass, swim up creeks and rivers to spawn like salmon. The sights are amazing if you have a clear creek with them in it. 100′s of them within touching distance. I guide at a local creek called Rowlett Creek in Rowlett, Texas (minutes from DFW). Mid February these great fighters start trickling in feeder creeks holding in small deep pockets. When water temps hit 58-61, they are going to start spawning. The female sandbass will release her eggs and and the males fertilse them. The eggs bump along the bottom and hatch in a couple days. While they do this, they get hungry and are very easy to catch.

Today we landed over 50 in just a few short hours dragging Minnows on the bottom.
