Those ingredients made for a very successful second annual Hunt-Fish Podcast Summit at The Warren Ranch near Santa Anna, TX on April 7-10.

The summit is the vision of Impact Outdoors host Derek York, and according to him, it exceeded all expectations this year.

“The summit was a huge success again this year. Building an in-person platform for podcasters to have the opportunity to interview such great guests has been very rewarding for all involved,” York said.

Participating podcasts included York’s own Impact Outdoors, Chester Moore with Higher Calling Wildlife, Paul Fuzinski with Aptitude Outdoors, Andrew Austin with The Wildlife Experience, and Jonathan McCormick of Red Beard Outdoors.

Special guests for the event included Gray Thornton, President & CEO The Wild Sheep Foundation, Renee Thornton, Chair of Women Hunt, Dr. Dale Rollins (Rolling Plains Quail Research Ranch), Brittany Perry, biologist with the National Wild Turkey Federation and Falconer, Gale Force Twins (Emily and Amanda), Captain Eric Trout and Heroes On the Water’s, Laura Lindsey and Camille Null.

Paul Fuzinski of the Aptitude Outdoors podcast traveled from Ohio to the event and said it is his favorite annual trek.

“I know that the summit is currently and will continue to make waves in conservation circles and is already growing exponentially each spring. I am honored to be invited and to partake in amazing conversations and opportunities to learn from some of the greatest thinkers and action takers in the world when it comes to caring for and saving wildlife,” Fuzinski said.

Paul Funzinski of Aptitude Outdoors interviews The Wild Sheep Foundation’s Women Hunt Chair Renee Thornton.

Renee Thornton is Chair of the Women Hunt™ Program of the Wild Sheep Foundation and she said, the level of passion and dedication to the conservation of wildlife and the wild places they inhabit exhibited at the event was awe-inspiring.

“I was thrilled at the number of women who had been invited to speak about what they’re passionate about. Our collective voices will only grow stronger the more we engage the power of women in the outdoors. Thank you Derek and Impact Outdoor for your vision,” she said.

Hunt-Fish Podcast visionary Derek York worked hard throughout the weekend to make the event a success.

Legendary quail conservationist and founder of Texas Brigades Dr. Dale Rollins addressed the group Friday night and challenged them to make a place for young people in the industry.

Wildlife journalist and Higher Calling Wildlife podcast host Chester Moore spoke Saturday on the power of creating new outdoors memories to help people make it through life’s challenges and to create conservation advocates.

“By putting out engaging, well-researched, and inspired content we have the opportunity to let people, especially young people, know there is a place for them in wildlife conservation,” he said.

Derek York said he is already excited to plan for 2023.

“Some of the greatest things coming out of this event are people getting to meet others in the outdoors industry that they normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to and all the great networking and the great friendships. I can’t wait to see where it goes next year and further into the future.”
