The Power oF Outdoors Mentorship

That theme echoed throughout the third annual Hunt-Fish Podcast Summit at The Warren Ranch March 16-19.

Outdoors podcasters from around the nation gathered along with guests from fishing, hunting, conservation and hunter advocacy groups and projects to create content. and build relationships.

“We were very happy with the results of this year’s summit.  It was really interesting this year because we didn’t have an exact set theme but mentorship was at the forefront of both Chester Moore and Todd Craighead’s speeches and they didn’t communicate any beforehand. And although we had a panel discussion set on that topic, it ended up being talked about by most of the guests at some level throughout the summit,” said event founder Derek York.

York noted the event once again brought people together who are at high levels of experience to those who are just now blazing their path in the outdoors.

“We had Kat Hunter who is a new hunter that came out of the 2022 Women Hunt event and we had guys like Dr. Sam Cunningham, President of the Texas Bighorn Society a conservation leader and Troy Fowler “The Ranch Fairy” who has hunted and fished his whole life. So in a way, the summit is providing an on-ramp for new mentoring relationships.”

A highlight of the event was the debut of The Hunt Within, a documentary about the complex and inspiring journey of hunting produced by Summit alumni Paul Fuzinski of Aptitude Outdoors and Seth Geib.

The film will be making the film festival circuit and eventually be available for public viewing.

Texas Fish & Game will be posting special videos from the Hunt-Fish Podcast Summit in the coming weeks.
