The world of marine electronics evolves at a blinding pace, and for 2024 there’s plenty of new tech that can help you find more fish. Check out these cool new heavy-hitters that were introduced this winter at the Miami International Boat Show.

Furuno TZTouchXL TZ Maps

You want serious bathymetric detail? Furuno’s TZ Maps will be impossible to beat.

Furuno has some cool new features in their TZTouch system (including an application of AI to boost several modes of performance) but the one of most interest to anglers will be TZ Maps. You can now zoom in and enjoy contour lines to three-inch increments. Yes, you read that rght – detail levels to three inches. You can also render chartography with custom shading and color palettes, and overly the view on your navigational charts. Garmin 16×3

Garmin’s latest is the 16×3.

Garmin beefs up the GPSMAP line for 2024 with the 16×3, available in 7-, 9-, 12-, and 16-inch displays. These are full high-resolution HD units, with built-in Navionics mapping and nearly double the processing power of previous units. Sonar functionality includes Ultra High-Definition SideVu and ClearVu, CHIRP sonar, and Panoptix LiveScope abilities (with the appropriate transducers). Simrad NSX Ultrawide

The NSX Ultrawide has an aspect ratio that stretches wider than other MFDs.

If you ever wished for a super-wide aspect ratio that allowed you to have one MFD instead of two, Simrad’s new NSX Ultrawide will be of interest. Equipped with the fish-finding features of the standard NSX (including 1KW sonar, single-channel CHIRP, HDI, and SideScan and DownScan capabilities plus compatibility with S3100 and S5100 modules), these 12″ and 15″ units have the widest aspect ratios around.
