TF&G Editor-In-Chief  Chester Moore won four first-place awards and placed in five additional categories at the Press Club of Southeast Texas’ annual “Excellence In Media Awards.”

For the third consecutive year, Moore took first place in the independent blog category for “Higher Calling Wildlife”. Moore’s work extends beyond written journalism; he secured two first-place awards in video categories. His documentary “Flying Upstream,” a unique exploration of fly fishing, and “Higher Calling Wildlife: The Elevation,” which highlights his outreach efforts to children with special challenges in Colorado, both earned top honors. 

Moore produced, wrote and narrated these videos and also starred in them, collaborating with filmmaker Paul Fuzinski of Aptitude Outdoors (and TF&G columnist) to bring these stories to life.

“Paul is a great partner in these documentaries and working with him as well as videographer Seth Geib has been a way to get a pro-conservation message out there. These guys are top notch and I look forward to completing new documentaries we’re currently working on,” Moore said.

Additionally, Moore was recognized with a first-place award for “Best Newscast” for his “Higher Calling Wildlife” podcast episode titled “Tracking Eastern Turkeys.” 

His dedication to environmental journalism was further acknowledged with a second-place win for his article “Bighorns on the Fringe” and a third-place finish for “A Sheep Dog Of A Different Kind,” both featured in “Wild Sheep,” the publication of The Wild Sheep Foundation.

Chester Moore’s also placed in social media, inspirational writing for a his Fighting For Texas Bighorns article in Texas Fish & Game, and podcasts categories, underscoring his commitment to spreading awareness about wildlife and conservation through various media platforms.

“I am deeply honored to receive these awards and grateful for the opportunity to share the stories of wildlife and conservation that matter so much to me,” Moore said. 

“These recognitions are a testament to the incredible support from my collaborators and the audiences who share my passion for wildlife.”
