Flounder Revolution is seeking conservation-minded flounder fishermen.
And from Sept. 24 through Oct. 4 we’re making a special offer.
The general rule is all anglers who catch, release and photo flounder 20-23 inches get the Catch, Release & Conserve Award (token).
For this special period anglers who catch and release any legal-sized flounder in Texas are eligible for a coin. The idea is to honor anglers who are practicing general catch-and-release of flounder.
E-mail photos, length and general location of catch (Galveston Bay, Sabine Lake, etc.) along with your mailing address to chester@chestermoore.com.
*Ditto for catch, release and photo entries of flounder measuring 24 inches or better. They will get the Save the Saddle Blankets coin.
All tokens are sponsored by CCA-Texas.
The Flounder Revolution program was founded in 2008 by Chester Moore and started operations in 2009. In the 15th anniversary of the program we can celebrate the following:
*More than 3,000 flounder measuring 20 inches or more released and entered by anglers across Texas and Louisiana.
*Forty replicas of flounders given out to anglers to celebrate the largest released specimens during the first five years of the program.
*More than 300 challenge tokens sent to anglers recognizing released flounder
*More than 200 First Flounder tokens sent to kids recognizing their first flounder catch
*More than 200 articles, radio programs and podcasts promoting flounder conservation.
Release the big ones and you can help sustain the fishery for the future and win some awesome prizes.
Viva La Revolution!
NOTE: Anglers are reminded no flounder in Texas can be retained Nov. 1-Dec. 14.
