At 18 years old, Faith Moore of Orange, Texas, has already made a name for herself in the world of wildlife photography. Gaining a reputation as a teen for her award-winning images of mountain goats and bighorn sheep, Faith is combining her passion for nature with a deep commitment to conservation education.
“I want my photography to do more than just win awards,” Faith said. “I want it to help people learn to appreciate and protect these amazing animals.”
One of her proudest moments came when the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance selected one of her photos for their educational outreach. The image is now helping teach others how to properly identify male and female mountain goats in the wild.
“It was an honor to have the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance use my photo,” she said. “Knowing that my work is being used to support wildlife education means a lot to me.”
This year, Faith is headed to a national youth fine arts competition, where her photograph of a bighorn sheep will compete at the highest level. It’s another step toward her dream of blending art and advocacy for wildlife.
Her passion is also a family affair. Her father, Chester Moore, is involved with the Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) and is a veteran outdoor writer and conservationist and Editor-In-Chief of Texas Fish & Game. Now, Faith is partnering with him on a series of articles where he provides the writing and she contributes the photography. Their goal is to spotlight wild sheep and mountain goat conservation efforts across North America, with features appearing in outlets like Texas Fish & Game magazine and her Dad’s Higher Calling Wildlife® blog.
“I really admire the work my dad does,” Faith said. “Getting to team up with him to tell these stories is something really special especially as a teen.”
With her camera and her convictions, Faith Moore is helping lead the next generation of conservation storytellers.
