Catching speckled trout – specks – from piers in Texas is a mix of timing, tide, technique, and patience. The bite tends to come best during low-light hours: dawn and dusk. Specks are ambush predators and feel more confident in low light or when baitfish are forced into narrow spaces by the tide.
