At the 2026 Hunt-Fish Podcast Summit, outdoor communicator and conservation advocate Chester Moore was presented with the Excellence Award, recognizing his decades-long commitment to wildlife conservation, outdoor education, and mentoring young people through the outdoors.
The award was presented by summit founder Derek York in front of a gathering of podcasters, writers, conservationists, and outdoor industry leaders who came together to celebrate storytelling and stewardship in the hunting and fishing community.
York highlighted Moore’s wide-ranging impact across conservation media, youth outreach, and wildlife research.
“Chester Moore represents exactly what the Excellence Award stands for,” York said.

He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Texas Fish & Game, where his writing and photography explore topics ranging from conservation issues and wildlife behavior to responsible hunting and fishing practices. He has contributed to many publications include Tide, the official magazine of the Coastal Conservation Association.
Moore has also contributed to conservation-focused writing for the Wild Sheep Foundation, highlighting the importance of protecting wild sheep populations and the habitats they depend on.
Moore’s passion for wildlife extends far beyond writing. He has conducted notable field work focused on Gulf Coast great white sharks, helping document the presence and seasonal movement of these remarkable predators in the Gulf of Mexico—work that has helped broaden public awareness of shark conservation in the region. His Gulf Great White Sharks: Return of An Icon documentary has received positive reviews and a large audience since its release last year.
Perhaps the most personal part of Moore’s mission is his Higher Calling Wildlife® outreach, which introduces young people—especially those facing difficult life circumstances—to the outdoors. Through hands-on wildlife experiences, mentorship, and outdoor adventures, the program uses nature as a pathway to hope, purpose, and healing.
Accepting the award, Moore expressed gratitude for the recognition and for the broader outdoor community gathered at the summit.
“This award is such an honor, especially coming from such an impactful, forward-thinking event like the Hunt-Fish Podcast Summit, which has brought so many people together for the cause of conservation,” Moore said.
