The Texas freeze kill event of 2021 is still unfolding. While it began early last week, warming conditions have revealed more fish, sea turtle and other wildlife deaths along the coast.

So far the hardest hit areas around Lower Laguna Madre around Port Mansfield, Port O’Connor area and the Rockport/Aransas Pass region. You can follow some of our updates on those freeze-related events here.

There is however an impact of this event that few are addressing that could have a big impact on what anglers catch in certain areas in relation to species variety and have a lasting impact on all bay and flat-dwelling gamefish from the Middle Coast to Mexico.
